October Beekeepers Meeting

The Dunn County Beekeepers will be meeting on Monday, Oct. 9th, 2017 at 7p.m. in room 116 at the Menomonie Alliance Church, 502 21st St N, Menomonie, WI 54751. (3 blocks north of the Hospital on 21st St.). Highlights will be honey tasting.

1.  Call meeting to order / welcome - President, Jenny Gruber

2.  Attendance – 1 minute

            New members?

3.  Secretary report – Pat Wilson – 2 minutes

4.  Treasurer report – Mary Buschman – 2 minutes

 

Old business – mark your calendars – Jenny - 3 minutes

  1. Fair dates 2018 – last weekend in July, Thursday July 26 to Sunday July 29, 2018 with setup Wednesday July 25.

  2. Workshop date is February 3, 2018

Tasks for beekeepers

  1. Find good source for sugar

  2. Feed your bees

  3. Get candy board and winterizing materials together

  4. Clean up supers

Remaining time is to sample honey, check honey moisture content and share stories

  1. Honey samples – bring sample of honey to taste and / or test moisture content

  2. Honey moisture content – Klaus will bring refractometer and sample spoons

  3. Bee stories
