October Beekeepers Meeting

posted Sep 9, 2014, 9:54 AM by George Adams   [ updated Oct 9, 2014, 8:19 PM ]
Monday, October 13th, 2014 at 7:00 P.M. at the Government Center, Room 58 (Basement Level), 800 Wilson Avenue, Menomonie (corner of 9th Street and Wilson Avenue next to the band shell).

The temperatures are getting cooler and we have to think about getting our bees ready for winter. We will discuss different strategies to overwinter a hive. I will bring along a candy/sugar board and instructions on how to build one. If you use candy / sugar boards on your hives, please bring one to show the group.

We also want to do a honey tasting. Bring some of your honey to the meeting for others to sample. I will bring my refractometer to use if you want to measure the moisture content in your honey.

At our last meeting we discussed a possible change in venues for our beginner's beekeeping class. If you know of a location in / around Menomonie that can accommodate 100 persons and allows for food to be brought in for a reasonable price, please let us know.

Lunch is provided by Mike Bessert and Linda Young.

Hope to see you all Monday, Oct 13th.
Klaus
